That’s what my best friend told me when I told here  that my husband and I were getting married at the courthouse. Yes, of course I deserve a better memory of my wedding day, but our wallets couldn’t afford it.

Or so I thought.

A marriage isn’t made on the wedding day but standing in front of the Justice of the Peace and with only a few friends to witness the 7 minute ceremony got us off to a shaky start and on top of that I am forever reminding my husband that I didn’t get my dream wedding.

No flowers, no wedding invitations, no beautiful church, no wedding portraits, no reception and no honeymoon

But it didn’t happen that way,

Honestly, we were planning on having a traditional wedding with about 30 or so guest, we even got to the part where I was able to try on many different wedding dresses that all looked alike to my husband.

But for reasons out of our control, our plans had to change. We had to move the wedding  day up by 6 months and we had to spend majority of the money we saved.

With little money and even less time, we just decided to have a “shot gun wedding” at the local courthouse….romantic, right?
